MARCHING IN THE LIGHT OF GOD They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march everyone on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: ... Joel 2:7 (KJV) A very well known Christian song contains the words: “Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war, ... with the Cross of Jesus going on before” – until, on the final day of the return of our Messiah, a mighty heavenly army is also expected as the Prophet Joel describes it. But for now, we are still the appointed Stewards of this earth, for both Good Works and of the Gospel of Good News towards fruit that last and edifying works worthy to be tested with fire. Yet somehow the soldiers are weakened and apathetic. Noisy in the barracks above which giant and exclusive banners of Elite Forces fly, - but virtually invisible in the battlefields of our minds, our societies and reaching all the earth. While some soldiers practice the goose-step repeatedly, some are continuously re-polishing their boots to a high sheen. Some have spectacular uniforms, and exceptionally well constructed and fitted out barracks. The doctrines, statutes and Standing Orders of some of the Christian Forces cover volumes, and some have special advisors to amplify the Original Great Commission Marching Orders ... but many of our local societies, and the ends of the earth, remain unreached. A co-ordinated Battle for World Evangelism, with effective allegiances and efficient coordination is often spoken about at big international gatherings where the Field Commanders and Platoon Leaders eat very well and are seated according to status and allegiances, – but the final breakthrough to take surrendered or unconquered ground does not come about consistently and sustainably in practice. Can it be caused by divided focus, double-cross, incomplete or scrambled intelligence, bad rations, good but stifling accommodation, confusion about Orders or who the Commanding Officer actually is? Is the seal or signature of our Commander known and recognized by all, - or perhaps it became so obscured over time that doubt and confusion reign? Do we know His Name? Do we know that it isn’t Lucifer, Nimrod, Tamuz, Bacchus, Mammon, Meni, Gad, Lord, Venus, Semiramus, Jezebel, Santa, Lennon, Hitler, Mao, Che Guevara, Baby Jesus, The Beatles, Snoop Dog, the Force, worldly government, Hi-Tech, Super-sport, Home-entertainment Theatre, Matreiah, the World Bank, Food Aid, ... or are we uncertain? Are our Field Commanders and Soldiers in the right boots or Shoes of Preparedness or are they wearing comfortable slippers around the barracks all the time? Do our Christian Armies still have spies like Joshua and Caleb, and Special Forces like Abraham’s men, Deborah, Gideon or David? Do the Arms of Service speak to each other in urgent and well coordinated effort? Under how many banners are we fighting (each other)? Are “friendly” Air Forces bombing “friendly” Armies? Are “friendly” Navies giving Naval Gunfire Support for the right battle front or last critical beach heads? Then how come not even the faintest echo of Christianity (or Messianic Truth) is heard or seen in the deep forests and isolated villages of central Africa? While rumours of war, lurking famines, earth quakes, global warming and tsunamis prevail, - probably by mere co-incidence, - the Armies and Order of Battle of Christianity continue in good intentions, perpetually re-grouping and re-mobilising while indeed raising (holy) hands and praying for revival, reformation and discernment. Suffer hardship with us as a good soldier of ????? (Yahushua) Messiah.
